OUR ROOTS
Just a Neighborhood Spot
In 2006, the first Boqueria opened on an unassuming stretch of 19th street in the Flatiron district as a neighborhood place.
We didn’t take reservations, we kept the energetic, sensual, delicious identity of Spanish tapas bars, and added a passion for design, improved service and hospitality.
An experience that dared to expand beyond the traditional, at your neighborhood spot.
A Growing Legacy
Today, with 10 locations nationwide, some bigger restaurants, and a dining culture forever changed, we now accept reservations.
But it doesn’t change how we show up: as a neighborhood restaurant offering an easy bite, drink, and friendly chat, right around the corner.
Every neighborhood deserves a great tapas bar
From our Founder
“I grew up in France, and admittedly the food is spectacular, but often meals out felt formal, definitely heavy, and sometimes a bit… pretentious.
There’s something that hits differently about Spain and particularly tapas bars. I loved the instant gratification of receiving your food and drinks upon ordering, and the conviviality of the shared bar or table. It all made for an experience I never had in France, and I wasn’t seeing in my new, adopted hometown of New York City. That’s how the idea for Boqueria was born.”
