Spanish tapas restaurant Boqueria opened Oct. 16 in West Hartford’s Blue Back Square, marking its first location in Connecticut and its first restaurant outside of a major city. The menu features Spanish specialties like classic tapas, cheese and charcuterie (including prized jamón ibérico), paella and larger plates like Catalan-style roasted chicken, hanger steak a la parrilla and ibérico salbitxada (a Catalan sauce with Marcona almonds.) Tapas options include traditional dishes like pan con tomate (grilled bread rubbed with tomato and garlic), gambas al ajillo (shrimp cooked in garlic, chili-laced olive oil and brandy) and tortilla española, a Spanish frittata of eggs, confit potatoes and onions.
